Jun-Ching Lin joined the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra ASO as Assistant Concertmaster in 1988 following a year serving as the Concertmaster of the Augusta Symphony. He has also held positions with notable orchestras including being Concertmaster of the Atlanta Opera Orchestra and guest Concertmaster with the Florida, Fort Worth, Kalamazoo, and Phoenix Symphonies.
His solo performance credits include leading Prokofiev's First Violin Concerto with the Kalamazoo Philharmonia and Tchkovsky's Violin Concerto with the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra. He has performed complete Brandenburg Concertos with the Atlanta Symphony Musicians in addition to pieces by Bach, Barber, Beethoven, Dvo?ak, Melssohn, Mozart, Prokofiev, Tchkovsky, and Vivaldi.
Mr. Lin is deeply involved in educational initiatives; he hosts educational residencies at Trinity School in Atlanta and Kalamazoo, MI. He has been the first violin coach of the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra for over 25 years and has taught at institutions like Emory University, Georgia Tech University, Meadowmount, Encore School for Strings, and Franklin Pond Chamber Music.
He is a member of the Franklin Pond String Quartet as its first violinist and also co-founded the Emory Chamber Music Society of Atlanta. His chamber music experience includes collaborations with Alan Gilbert, Robert Spano, Yo Yo Ma, members of the Cleveland, Miami, and Tokyo String Quartets, and principals from orchestras including Boston Symphony, Chicago Symphony, Cleveland Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, New York Philharmonic, and Philadelphia Orchestra.
Born in Tpei, Twan and rsed in Boston, Mr. Lin studied with Sara Scriven, Roman Totenberg, and Robert Koff as one of the first Presidential Scholars in Arts. He is a graduate of both the Curtis Institute of Music and the Cleveland Institute of Music where he learned under Ivan Galamian, Jascha Brodsky, and David Cerone.
Jun-Ching Lin met his wife Helen Porter during the inaugural summer of Encore School for Strings and they are proud parents to Emma and Nicholas.
